Oracle Community

Would you like to interact with the extended Oracle community, but don't know where to start? Here's a handy cheat sheet with links to differenct communities along with a short description of each:


  • OTN Forums
    These are legacy forums that have been around for over a decade. Maintained by Development, every product along with features and functions are shared and discussed by our customers. It's in the Oracle domain. Call it free, but it is still part of a customers Premier Support investment. There are millions of threads and users.

  • MOS Communities
    Included as part of a customer's Premier Support investment. There are about 300 or so communities. They are moderated by Support personnel. There are tens of thousands of users. There is a customer knowledge repository where customers upload their own docs, ppts and other user-created FAQ's/Guides.

  • OracleMix
    The operative word here is blend. Where forums are product based, Mix blends products with products or products with industries, or products with whatever you want.
    You can create your own Mix groups, both public or private.
    Some Mix groups include most Products but for example there is a group created specifically for R12 Implementations. Another one specifically for Secure Gov't IdM product users. Anything can be created.

  • Blogs
    Blogs are authored. Blogs are created by Oracle employees externally to communicate messaging around our products, product lines and services.
    Blogs are articles that may include; links, video or other media and invite feedback from the readership and subscribers.

  • Wiki
    Think Wikipedia here.
    The purpose of a wiki is that anyone can create, edit, contribute. Anything.

  • Twitter
    A.K.A. - microblogging. Short < 120-140 character messages that can be broadcast to the world. People choose to follow you and your messages based on keywords, #hashtages, messages or message theme.
